Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Who do you think you are?” Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. I and the Father are one.” “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” Jesus answered her, and to Adam he said, I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life and who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt? Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me a gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great a generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world and he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Thus innocent blood will not be shed in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. The Lord will give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him. And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.” So you will desecrate your silver-plated idols and your gold-plated images. You will throw them away like menstrual cloths, saying to them, “Be gone!”
