thank you so much! and of course, I will also try my very best to help you guys. I’m still very young and I admit I do not know much in life and sometimes I get lost and confused, but I will do my very best to help.

there are a lot of things that i want to thank God for, however i want to thank him for today, in times like this (pandemic crisis) many of us—some cant really look in to the bright side and think what they could thank for.

yesterday, we received a sad news, my husband would be in the furlough status in his company, i cried too much, i am honestly worried, my husband told me that Everything will be ok, i know it will be ok as long as i have you and as long as we are walking to God’s plan.
My Mom also told me that Let Go and Let God, you have us ( our parents both sides are very supporting)

God made me realize that God is an awesome God, he wants me to be still and know that HE IS GOD.

i really thank God , because he gave me a nice God fearing Husband, a loving and supportive family ( to know that everyone is ready to pray with you) so much relief
i have still Job and i could work from home.
and this community. for me this is like a support team,

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 " God bless us all

Hello there @Jojoy…I am glad thaf you are thankful to be part of this community. I have an aunt also that is in furlough status in work because of this pandemic situation, so I feel you! But we have to be still because God has a lot in store for everyone of us. Just remember Jeremiah 29:11 my most favorite memory verse “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”… :blush:

Hello, dear @impress
Just as my dearest friend @kianna says, I want to thank God for this community and the opportunity to share my religion with all of you. Sometimes the burden of life can make you feel a little down, and with the quarantine you feel a little alone too. But sharing here is always nice and it reminds me the virtue of following the God path, when I remember it I always feel better with myself and the situation. I thank God for guiding me to find out this awesome community and awesome friends over here.
Kind regards to all of you, Luis Guerrero.

I thank the Lord for giving me strength. The past few months were hectic due to the pandemic and continuous classes online. Never ending due dates of requirements were needed to be submitted and stress really took over me. All the worry and doubt started to come to me but I asked the Lord to guide me in every requirement that I do and succeeded. I thank the Lord for everyday of my life.

It is very wonderful how the Lord God gathered us all together and help each other. We may not have a lot in common but we are all brought together because of God’s love and power. This is one of his great plans.

thank you father God for giving us the Gift of Life and share blessing and hope to our friends and family. Thank you for providing us what we need like food and shelter

Hello, dear @kianna
Thats what’s great about it! We live in different countries, different age, different sex, different lives!
But one thing in common, we live in the teachings of the Lord. And these united us all on this platform, when in good use technology can be an amazing tool to unite people.
I hope you have a great day @kianna.
Kind regards, Luis Guerrero

I agree! I am a very very shy person, I seriously did not see this coming in me, socializing and sharing my opinions with people. Everything feels surreal. My life really changed for the better when I saw this community.
God bless you @Luis_Ruiz!

Title: Gracious Spirit, Dwell with Me
Author: Thomas Toke Lynch’s (1818-1871)
Year of production (1855)
Meter: 7.7.7.7.7.7
Tune: REDHEAD NO. 76

Gracious Spirit, dwell with me:
I myself would gracious be;
And with words that help and heal
Would thy life in mine reveal;
And with actions bold and meek
Would for Christ my Savior speak.

Truthful Spirit, dwell with me:
I myself would truthful be;
And with wisdom kind and clear
Let thy life in mine appear;
And with actions brotherly
Speak my Lord’s sincerity.

Mighty Spirit, dwell with me:
I myself would mighty be;
Mighty so as to prevail
Where unaided man must fail;
Ever by a mighty hope
Pressing on and bearing up.

Holy Spirit, dwell with me:
I myself would holy be;
Separate from sin, I would
Choose and cherish all things good,
And whatever I can be,
Give to him who gave me thee!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND THE HYMN!

Lynch, Thomas Toke, was born on July 5, 1818, and he died, on 9th of May, 1871.

This is a hymn which requests that God’s Spirit would dwell in us.

The reason for this hymn may well be the objection of some to address the Holy Spirit in prayer. However, singing and praying are two separate acts (1 Cor. 14:15).

Therefore, it could be argued that one can scripturally address a song to the Holy Spirit, calling upon Him to do that which the scriptures teach that He will do, and it not be the same as praying to Him.

This song characterised the Holy Spirit in several ways which are applicable to us.

Stanza 1 calls Him a gracious Spirit.

“Gracious Spirit, dwell with me: I myself would gracious be…”

A. The Spirit is called “the Spirit of Grace” because He revealed unto us in the scripture the grace of God: Zech. 12:10

B. We also should be gracious in using words that would minister God’s grace to others: Acts 20:32

C. In addition, we must be gracious in actions both bold and meek to help and heal: Gal. 6:1-2

Stanza 2 calls Him a truthful Spirit.

“Truthful Spirit, dwell with me: I myself would truthful be…”

A. The Spirit is called “the Spirit of truth” because He revealed to the apostles, and to us through their word, the truth of God: Jn. 16:13

B. We should also strive to live life that is based upon the truth: 1 Pet. 1:22

C. And we should also be zealous in speaking the truth in love to others, both by word and deed: Eph. 4:15

Stanza 3 calls Him a mighty Spirit.

“Mighty Spirit, dwell with me: I myself would mighty be…”

A. The Spirit is called “the Spirit of counsel and might” because He revealed unto us in scripture the might or power of God: Isa. 11:2.

B. Therefore, we should look to His word that we might be strengthened with His might: Eph. 3:16.

C. The reason that we need this might is to help us press on to the goal: Phil. 3:14.

Stanza 4 calls Him a tender Spirit.

“Tender Spirit, dwell with me: I myself would tender be…”

A. The Spirit may be thought of as a “tender Spirit” because He cares for us and is grieved when we sin: Eph. 4:30

B. We should also be tenderhearted and look to the Spirit to shut up our hearts to temptation because it leads to sin: Jas. 1:13-15

C. We should let Him open our hearts and make them tender towards the love of God and being His temple: 1 Cor. 6:19

Stanza 5 calls Him a holy Spirit.

“Holy Spirit, dwell with me: I myself would holy be…”

A. The Spirit is called the “Holy Spirit” because He is the Spirit of God: Eph. 1:13

B. We should seek to follow His will that we might be holy as the children of God: 1 Pet. 1:14-16

C. In this way, we give back to Him who gave us the Spirit by guarding that which is committed to us: 2 Tim. 1:14

Requesting that the Spirit dwell with me does not necessitate some kind of miraculous, or even direct, indwelling on His part. It can simply be a desire that the Spirit would abide in my heart through the influence of the scriptures that He inspired and gave to all mankind.

Thus this Third Person of the Trinity can produce spirit or attitude of godliness in my life, as I ask Him:

“Gracious Spirit, Dwell with Me.”

Other verses of this hymn that are omitted in some hymnbooks are:

“Tender Spirit, dwell with me—
I myself would tender be;
Shut my heart up like a flower,
In temptation’s darksome hour;
Open it when shines the sun,
And his love by fragrance own.”

“Silent Spirit, dwell with me—
I myself would quiet be,
Quiet as the growing blade
Which through earth its way has made;
Silently, like morning light,
Putting mists and chills to flight.”
