Is it possible to have so much faith in Jesus Christ that you know 100 percent He is the Messiah, but never open your Bible up again other than hearing your pastor’s sermons on Sunday? Would this be evidence that a person isn’t really saved or does God require a Chrisitan to read the Bible to stay saved?
Thank you for your responses.
No! The WORD in you , and you in The WORD! 2Timothy 2:15“Study to show thy self approved unto GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing The WORD of TRUTH.”
If our salvation depends on anything we do, it is not salvation. Salvation is a direct and specific gift from God. Reading the Bible is inhaling God’s breath. We, who are saved, long to get to know the One who saved us better so we are able to love him more!! It’s all about Him!
I don’t think that strictly speaking you have to continue to read the Bible to remain saved. Once you’re saved you can’t be unsaved. But the Bible is a reference book. We refer to it to as we journey through our days. We refer to it when we quote it at our doors to pesky Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons who live by a different narrative yet claim to be on the same righteous path. We refer to it when our pastors preach. But to be saved and then to never read the Bible again won’t ‘unsave’ us.
My heart with God is good we talk everyday I’m having trouble with the reading because of dementia I am 100 percent sure I’m going to heaven
It’s important to Read your Bible. Remember that you believed alone. In as much as we gather with our pastors, the Bible says that they are there to prepare us into the saints we ought to be. Reading your Bible empowers you as a Christian. It gives you Faith. You can only encounter the living word through the written word.
To be saved someone must believe, repent and do the will of God. I’m still saved if I don’t read, but it’s something that should be worked on. Love believes all things, if someone claims Christ. Believe them until it’s proven different.Paul says It’s a race for a prize of Jesus. God says to read for our own good. repent, and remember what God has said
reading your bible is essential to your faith. Relying on sermons and others to tell what is in it, or guild you through perfectly constructed lessons will ensure you will never truly read the bible. That is a dangerous place to be. So many times in my life, have I taken for granted what people tell me of the word of God, because I trusted them. You literally cannot do that! It wasn’t until I really started reading it, combating my own questions and other Christians, and finding the flaws of modern preaching that I realized how desperately flawed being a “pew sitter” is.No one, even the most devout priest is going to be able to spoon feed you the truth. Its very much something you must take control of.You can be saved without opening it, you can do good works, but if you want a truly stumble block proof faith, you need to open it up and just read.
My faith is so strong I refer to it as reality of life. Life without God is like a tree without soil, a fish without water
You don’t read the Bible to stay saved, you read the Bible because you are saved. Salvation is a miracle and a person who is born again into the kingdom of God is a new creature. If such a person is not at all interested in reading/studying God’s word, then I would question whether or not a true conversion has taken place.
