Jesus turned and said to Peter No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. So, the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it. Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Consider and realize how evil and bitter it is for you to forsake the LORD your God and to have no fear of Me,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts. “For long ago you broke your yoke and tore off your chains, saying, ‘I will not serve!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every green tree you lay down as a prostitute. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. But Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you testing Me? And they marveled at Him. Now what will you gain on your way to Egypt to drink the waters of the Nile? What will you gain on your way to Assyria to drink the waters of the Euphrates? Bring Me a denarius to inspect.” 16So they brought it, and He asked them, “Whose image is this? These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they answered. Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men. ” Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “Listen and understand. he said. “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us responsible for this man’s blood.” Peter and the other apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging Him on a tree. ”
