The Word became a human being and lived here with us. He taught them like someone with authority, and not like their teachers of the Law of Moses. From him the complete gifts of undeserved grace and truth have come down to us. Graves opened, and many of God’s people were raised to life. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. David says about Him: ‘I saw the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell in hope, because You will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. Because you priests have rejected me, and my people are destroyed by refusing to obey. Now I’ll reject you and forget your children, because you have forgotten my Law. So the LORD God sent them out of the Garden of Eden, where they would have to work the ground from which the man had been made.
