Joshua 5:12 There was no longer any manna for the Israelites

Joshua 5:12 The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.

The manna symbolizes the spiritual food on our faith journey, which is the word of God. The Cannan symbolizes the kingdom of God. In the old testament, God gave the Israel the laws, the people obey God’s law and theh shall live. In the new testament, God gave us himself through Jesus Christ. We live by faith through Jesus Christ. Jesus said He is the bread of life. Jesus is the word, and He is the food for us. The Bible said there was no longer any manna in Canaan, they ate the produce. In the beginning of our faith, we listen to God’s words through the preachers, like the Israelites ate the manna God gave them directly. As we grow maturer, we need to learn how to ate the produce. It means we need to learn how to study and meditate God’s word by ourselves.

As Paul said in Hebrews 5:13-14, “Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” We listen to God’s words, but should not stop there, but meditate and apply in our life. We need to have the ability to get the produce from the Bible God’s word.

When we learn and meditate on God’s words, the Holy Spirit works within us and inspire us and teach us to understand God’s words. If you often did it before, you must have this kind of experience that God open your eyes to see the light of the truth and you understand what you didn’t understand before, even on the words you have listened to for many times.

May God increase our faith and improve spiritual learning ability. Amen.
