As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
-Psalms 42:1
When I walked by a deserted garden this evening after dinner, I saw two deers panting for something inside of it. There is some shade, bushes, green cottonwoods inside of the garden. The deers might thought there is pure streams that they could find. But they didn’t remain too long, yet they left soon. It reminds me of remembering the author David’s psalm 42.
The deer is the kind of animal which has the pure diet character. They will not rest until they find the clean water for drinking if they feel thirsty.
After chasing many things, including romantic love, friendship, pleasure in work before being in Jesus Christ and several months lost after seeking Jesus Christ my savior, my heart tells me that the soul inside of me insists on seeking the pure love of life, that is I am thirsty for the pure love of God.
Before the greatest saint Augustine said to God, “you were within me, and I out of myself, and there I searched for you.” David already confessed, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” This is a indisputable fact: My heart desires being filled by God. Because God is love. (1 John 4:8)
