The righteous will flourish like the green leaf

Reflection from Ryno Rangel

Colossians 3:5
“Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.”

Idolatry-The worship of idols

Pay attention, we interpret greed as someone who wants much material things and gives none. But, the word of God says the greedy one is he who is proud. This is the worship of men of the earth. The greedy one is he who strives for self-righteousness, he trusts in his own riches, not the riches of God whom is Jesus Christ who is free for all.

Proverbs 11:28
“He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.”

The lesson is, do not lean on your own understanding, seek for the wisdom of God, ask and He will give. Search, and He will make known.

Hello, dear @Katelyn
Thank you for sharing this reflection by Ryno Rangel! I liked a lot… Because thinking about it, we sometimes (especially when things are going our way) that everything will be perfect all the time because we did the right things, well of course we have to do those things but all happens is thanks to God and only thanks to him. We are his sons, and all we accomplish is thanks to his blessings and care, we can never be more grateful to the Lord for it!
Kind regards, Luis Guerrero.

We need God’s wisdom to get through life successfully because it’s hard to distinguish what is truly right with just our own understanding. We need God’s wisdom to help us discern and make good decisions. Otherwise, we’re just floundering around doing what we think is best (which isn’t really best), or doing whatever we want (which is worse).

Makes me think of this passage:

Proverbs 3:5-6 New International Version (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
