What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away!

Reflection from Brenda Shew Gardner

What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

Matthew 18:12 "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

I pray We never wander off and if we do, I pray JESUS finds us and return us back to Him.

If it would be and ordinary farmer who has enough resources to spare, he will first calculate the risk and the time involve in searching for that one lost sheep. After all taking care of those sheep is all about business for the farmer. The farmer who is the owner of the sheep will just instruct his shepherd to take care next time so that he will not lose another. Fortunately for us our God is not like that, every single soul is important in the eyes of our maker. That’s why our shepherd Jesus Christ risked His life and gave it all for His lost sheep.

This little parable tells us something about God, that he is always looking for us, no matter how far we turn away from him…In this reflection I learned that God has a particular care for everyone, especially for those who have gone astray and it brings comfort to me because I often lose my way in life… thank you Lord for always dragging me back to you…
