What happens when we die? Do the unsaved immediately go to Tartarus and the saved go into ‘Paradise’?
So Sheol and Hades are the Hebrew and Greek words that respectively describe where we will both end up in death. In Matthew 16:18 “Jesus says “And I also say to you that (A)you are Peter, and (B)on this rock I will build My church, and (C)the gates of Hades shall not [a]prevail against it.”
The confusion around Sheol and Hades being a place void of consciousness is from the KJV mistranslating Hades as “Hell” as the same verse says “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Then on judgement day, we will be sentenced to Heaven or the Lake of Fire, with the second coming of our Lord Jesus.
Some people say that Eccliastes 9:5 “…the dead know nothing, there’s no reward for them…” means that nothing happens after we die until the sex coming. But that means the dead know nothing about what’s happening on Earth.

Sheol is old testament, It’s where Jesus went to profess to the “unsaved” who had died previously. Obviously it would be completely unfair if he only saved the ones who existed after the return of the messiah. There is scripture that backs this up. So,… See more
