When I pray to God, sometimes I hear words that I do not know. The pastor called this a tongue. What is a dialect?
Speaking in tongue is the gift form Holy Spirit, we don’t know its meaning, unless one people who has the gift to translate it could tell us the meaning.
Spiritual gift, in our church, many people has it.
But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. (1 Corinthians 14:19)
This is Apostle Paul’s teaching to the Church. Speaking in tongue is good for personal spiritual life, not to others. So I think it’s better to speak alone.
Acts 2:1-4
“when the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
speak in tongues is a spirit gift from God,it is a way to pray with God and good to ourself spirit.
