Why would Jesus forgive them???
Jesus constantly shocked people by his behaviour and theology whilst living on earth .
He confounded the wise, He offended the religious leaders , He extended grace to those who seem unworthy. But forgiving people of sins??. This was unprecedented.
Jesus could have called down Angels from Heaven to battle, yet He surrendered to His Father’s will and modelled the life of Mercy and grace
Forgiveness is made to be lavished on others and ourselves regardless of whether or not it is merited . Forgiveness won’t immediately heal all the damage and pain, but it will begin to do its slowly and quiet work of bringing true freedom and wholeness. As the people mocked Jesus , and put a crown of thorns on his head ,God chose a higher way. God His life for the people that were taking His life .
If a person deserved a shot at revenge, Jesus did. But he didn’t take it . Instead He died for them . If sinless Jesus could forgive those who hurt Him, and forgive us of our sins, taking our just punishment for those sins ,He can give us strength to forgive others.

AMEN…yes how great the LORD IS THAT WE ARE CALLED HIS CHILDREN LAVISHED AND SATURATED IN THE TRUE LIVE OF GOD AMEN
